The maiden edition of The Healing Place Conference 2026 was held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the All Nations Fire Chapel (The Divine Dome) in Chantan, Accra.

The event brought together speakers from diverse professional and spiritual backgrounds to address themes of emotional healing, personal growth, and relationship challenges.

Convener Lady Pastor Victoria Beeko Danso said the conference was inspired by her personal interactions and conversations with individuals facing various life struggles. She noted that recurring concerns about forgiveness, emotional trauma, and marital difficulties informed the vision behind the gathering. The conference featured motivational speakers, broadcast journalists, counsellors, and ministers, with GN Media serving as the official media partner.

Faith-based conferences focused on emotional and psychological well-being have seen a steady rise in Ghana over the past decade, as organizers increasingly combine spiritual teachings with professional insights to address complex social issues. At the event, speakers including Dr. John Agyemang Boateng, Smart Takyi Nixon, and Dr. Kwasi Antwi Koranteng delivered sessions centered on resilience, mental health awareness, and personal transformation.

Legal and counselling perspectives were also introduced through contributors such as Gifty Nyarko Esq. and Janice Tiwah Oware Esq., reflecting a broader shift toward holistic healing frameworks where spiritual guidance is complemented by practical expertise. This approach mirrors a growing recognition of the interconnected nature of emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.

Speaking on the sidelines of the conference, Lady Pastor Victoria Beeko Danso said, “In many of my conversations, people were not just looking for prayer; they were looking for understanding, for someone to listen. That is what gave birth to this conference.” Participants who spoke to ATV Newsroom described the experience as impactful, with one attendee noting that discussions on forgiveness and emotional awareness helped her confront unresolved personal issues.

The conference highlights a growing demand for safe spaces where individuals can openly address emotional and psychological challenges within culturally familiar settings. In Ghana, where conversations around mental health often remain sensitive, such initiatives may contribute to reducing stigma and encouraging open dialogue.

Experts suggest that integrating faith-based outreach with professional counselling could expand access to mental health support, particularly in communities where formal services remain limited. As more organizations adopt this model, similar conferences may emerge as key platforms for education and community engagement.

While framed as a spiritual gathering, the event ultimately reflected a broader shift—one in which deeply personal struggles are increasingly shared in collective spaces, suggesting that for many, healing may begin not in isolation, but in conversation.

The South African Ministry of Police has ordered the national police service to act “decisively and without hesitation” following a wave of xenophobic violence and intimidation targeting Ghanaian nationals and other foreign residents.

In a strongly worded statement, the Ministry condemned the attacks as unlawful and a violation of the constitutional values of dignity and human rights. The directive comes amid reports of targeted harassment and civil unrest, with authorities warning that any individuals participating in or inciting looting and violence will be apprehended and prosecuted.

The Ministry emphasized that South Africa remains a state governed by the rule of law, asserting that no group has the authority to take the law into their own hands, regardless of their grievances. The South African Police Service (SAPS) has been tasked with identifying and bringing before the courts anyone found supporting criminal conduct.

In an effort to de-escalate the situation, the Ministry called on all communities to reject hatred and division. Community leaders, civil society organizations, and stakeholders have been urged to collaborate with law enforcement to promote dialogue and prevent further outbreaks of violence.

The Government of Ghana has formally summoned the South African envoy to protest a surge in xenophobic harassment and intimidation targeting its citizens in the Republic of South Africa.

In a press release issued Thursday, April 23, 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the Acting High Commissioner of the South African High Commission in Ghana, Mr. Thando Dalamba, was called to a meeting with Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa to address the escalating tensions.

The diplomatic move follows the circulation of viral videos documenting acts of harassment against foreign nationals. Minister Ablakwa specifically cited an incident in KwaZulu-Natal, where a legal Ghanaian resident was confronted and ordered to “fix his country” after being forced to provide proof of his legal status.

“Such conduct undermines the dignity and rights of law-abiding individuals,” the Ministry stated, registering a formal protest against the “unprovoked harassment.”

While the Ministry noted that no fatalities or injuries have been recorded in the current wave of incidents, it highlighted that tensions are high enough that foreign nationals, including Ghanaians, are being advised to remain indoors for their own safety. The Ghanaian government stressed the urgent need for intervention to prevent a recurrence of past xenophobic violence that resulted in the loss of lives and property.

During the summons, Minister Ablakwa underscored the deep historical ties between the two nations, reminding the envoy of Ghana’s pivotal role in the anti-apartheid struggle and the sacrifices made under Dr. Kwame Nkrumah to support South Africa’s liberation. He emphasized that current attacks are contrary to the principles of African solidarity and peaceful coexistence.

In response, Acting High Commissioner Dalamba acknowledged the concerns and assured the Ghanaian government that South African law enforcement is monitoring the situation closely. He indicated that the South African government is committed to restoring calm and holding those responsible for the harassment accountable.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded by assuring the public of its continued commitment to safeguarding the welfare of Ghanaian nationals in South Africa through ongoing diplomatic engagement.

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority, Edudzi Tamakloe, has issued a strong warning to the public to desist from siphoning fuel from accidented tankers, describing the practice as dangerous and illegal.

He revealed that the Authority is collaborating with the Ghana Police Service and other security agencies to identify and prosecute individuals involved, adding that video evidence from accident scenes is already being used to track offenders.

“We are taking video recordings and giving them to the Ghana Police to identify known faces for arrest and prosecution,” he said.

Mr. Tamakloe noted that surveillance and enforcement will be intensified, especially along known hotspots such as the Nsawam–Kumasi corridor, where such incidents are frequent.

He condemned the act as reckless and life-threatening, explaining that some individuals still rush to tanker crash sites with containers and even attempt to puncture tanks to collect fuel.

According to him, beyond being theft, the practice exposes entire communities to serious danger due to the highly flammable nature of petroleum products.

“When there is a tanker accident, people move from their homes with gallons… ignition can occur. The next thing is boom—and everybody is gone,” he cautioned.

He urged the public to stay away from accident scenes entirely, stressing that attempting to collect fuel is a deadly risk.

“Please do not go near it. Do not carry containers to fetch fuel. You are inviting death to your home,” he warned.

Businesses operating through Ghana’s ports are expected to save over GH¢800 million annually after the Ghana Shippers’ Authority introduced a cap on the Container Administrative Charge at GH¢550 per twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU).

The new directive, which comes into force on May 1, 2026, is part of efforts to cut down port-related costs and ensure greater transparency in fees charged by shipping lines.

Figures from the Ghana Union of Traders’ Associations indicate that shippers paid roughly GH¢1.69 billion in such charges in 2024. With the cap in place, annual savings are projected at about GH¢802.5 million, providing significant cost relief for importers, exporters, and manufacturers.

GUTA, in a statement released on April 22, described the policy as a timely intervention to address persistent concerns about excessive and often unjustified charges at the ports.

Originally introduced in the late 1980s when port infrastructure was limited and vessels relied on onboard equipment, the Container Administrative Charge has remained in place despite major upgrades to port facilities—fueling calls for its review.

The Authority said the decision followed broad stakeholder consultations, including shipping lines and freight forwarders, and is backed by the Ghana Shippers’ Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1122).

In a further shift, the charge will now be priced in Ghana cedis instead of US dollars, a move expected to improve cost certainty and limit the impact of exchange rate fluctuations on businesses.

GUTA has pledged to work with regulators to ensure compliance, warning that any breaches of the approved cap will attract sanctions.

Stakeholders say the move could enhance the competitiveness of Ghana’s ports while easing financial pressure on businesses.

Ghanaian gospel music icon Joe Mettle has officially announced the 2026 edition of his
flagship worship experience, Praise Reloaded. Scheduled for Sunday, June 28, 2026, the
highly anticipated gospel gathering will take place at the Accra Sports Stadium, marking
a return to the iconic venue following the successful hosting of the 2025 edition at the ElWak Sports Stadium.

Renowned for its powerful worship atmosphere and far-reaching spiritual impact, Praise
Reloaded continues to evolve beyond a single concert into a nationwide movement of faith,
worship, and community transformation. As part of the buildup to the 2026 edition, a
comprehensive lineup of spiritually engaging activities has been outlined to generate
momentum and deepen engagement ahead of the main event.

The roadmap to Praise Reloaded 2026 will feature a series of strategic activations, including
Campus Activations, Church Activations, Media Tour, the Praise Reloaded Float, a
Music Seminar, a prayer campaign and a week-long series of Worship Nights, all
carefully curated to culminate in the grand worship experience on June 28, 2026.
Speaking on the vision behind Praise Reloaded 2026, Joe Mettle shared:

“I am deeply stirred and excited about what God is set to do through Praise Reloaded 2026 dubbed
The River. This is more than an event; it is a divine assignment. Scripture tells us in John 7:36 –
38 that ‘What does he mean by saying, “You will seek me, and you will not find me,” and “Where
I am you cannot come”?’ On the last day of the feat, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out,
“If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said,
‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water, and we believe this season is part of that
fulfillment. Through every activation, every gathering, and every moment of worship, we are
trusting God for a mighty outpouring that will touch lives, restore hearts, and draw many back to
Him. We are ready, we are expectant, and we are believing for an unprecedented move of God.”
Adding to the growing anticipation, Joe Mettle also unveiled the first set of artistes
confirmed for the event.

“I am excited to announce Eugene Zuta, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, and the Bethel Revival
Choir. In addition, a host of friends and family—my brothers and fellow artistes from Ghana and
the international gospel community—will be unveiled progressively as the promotions continue.”
